One programme namely, RIP ( Rural Industrialization Programme ) of Govt. of India was introduced in the tate by that time during the incumbency of the then Chief Minister Late Sri Biju Pattnaik in the year 1963-64. Industries Department have invested 98.46% paid up share capital & established 147 Nos of Panchayat Samiti Industries (PSI Units ) in the 147 Nos of award winning Gram Panchayats of the State at that time looking into the availability of local raw materials and to provide sustainable livelihood with enhancement of economic condition of the rural artisans as well as to aware the unemployed youths regarding industrialization and self employment. Concerned Gram Panchayats were awarded with Rs 1,00,000.00 cash prize each, out of which, they have invested Rs 50,000.00 as their share in the PSI Units. Rest 1.54% of the shares were distributed among the artisan members in the form of Co-Operative Society. It has almost completed 59 years of it's successful journey with providing livelihood to the artisan members of this unit.
